Melanotan II is a variant on the man-made peptides of naturally occurring hormones known as melanocortin protein hormone alpha-melanocyte hormones. The molecular formula is C50H69N15O9. The weight is 1024.2.
It was created on purpose by Americans in 1991 in an effort to find a more stable, stronger version of alpha MSH. After the initial research, various studies were conducted in other countries so as to verify the efficacy of the still new peptide.
Similar to Melanotan I, its predecessor, this sequel has a hand in stimulating melanogenesis, allowing it to provide the protective mechanism against ultra violet rays and under its influence melanocytes can increase secretion and production of melanin. Scientists also noticed the compound has certain aphrodisiac properties as well as a positive, mobilizing effect on fat.
