Ipamorelin is a member of the regulatory peptides. It is a short chain made of only five amino acids, and it has a molecular formula of C38H49N9O5. Its mass is 711.86.
It was synthesized as a somewhat novel mimic of ghrelin, so it has the ability to enhance the motility of the gastric system. Some clinical trials are ongoing, but the first studies done including this compound were conducted in the 1990s.
Ipamorelin is a selective secretagogue of the G-hormone and ghrelin receptor agonists. As is the case with other proteins, it reacts with receptors that are GHRP-like, releasing growth hormone from the pituitary gland. Unlike other peptides of hormones occurring in nature, Ipamorelin, a pentapetptide, does not release as much of the compounds acetylcholine and cortisol, meaning it offers great potential for future trials and research. It also has a longer half-life than other similar compounds.
